Since 1992, Projects Abroad has facilitated connections between individuals and communities worldwide, fostering respectful engagement with diverse cultures, promoting personal growth, and enabling meaningful contributions to host communities.
Over 135,000 participants have journeyed with them to destinations worldwide, engaging in thoughtfully planned, long-term projects led by their local teams and aligned to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.
Their Gap Programs range from 4 to 10 weeks in duration and include trips in Southeast Asia, Latin America, Central America, and East Africa.
Across all destinations, they provide comprehensive support and prioritize participant safety, while also offering opportunities for personal development, discovery, and challenge.

INTERCULTURAL COMPETENCE
Participants are immersed in different cultures, gain an understanding of their role within a global community and develop a deeper cultural awareness.

Young people are pushed out of their comfort zones, experiencing new challenges each day. They build their confidence and resilience through team activities and new life experiences.

Participants are encouraged to prioritize their self-care, enhancing their physical and mental wellbeing.

Participants are exposed to new perspectives, engage with real-world challenges and contribute to sustainable development initiatives.

CULTURAL IMMERSION
For over three decades they’ve been working alongside local leaders, campaigners, educators, and families to develop their programs. These relationships, together with expert in-country staff, help students to form deep connections with their host families and to really immerse themselves in the culture of the places they travel.

Staff Training and Certification
Projects Abroad have rigorous safeguarding policies in place for all participants, with extra care given to those under-18.
All of their staff, systems and processes are geared towards delivering safe and meaningful experiences for their participants and addressing the social and environmental issues.
They have been a Certified B Corporation since June 2024. One of only two worldwide operating in the volunteer travel space.
